About

Curated in Kashmir

The Kostur Club is a Srinagar-based collective dedicated to Kashmir’s most treasured goods—saffron, honey, and dryfruits. Guided by the idea of kostur, or fragrance, we trace each product back through trading routes, landscapes, and families that shaped it. Here, shopping feels like reading a living archive, where every jar and strand carries a story of craft, season, and continuity.

A nostalgic warehouse corner representing Kashmir’s trading heritage, with orderly stacks of unbranded burlap sacks filled with dry fruits and spices, some slightly open to reveal almonds, walnuts, and dried figs. A large wooden crate sits in the foreground, its lid leaning against it, topped with a brass scoop and a small heap of saffron threads on parchment. Sunlight filters through a high, small window, creating rays of dust-lit light and long, soft shadows across the rough stone floor. The scene is shot from a slightly low angle with moderate depth of field, focusing on the crate while the background blurs gently. Photographic realism, warm tones, and a quietly grand mood evoke history, authenticity, and local trade traditions.

Editorial features explore Kashmir’s trade routes, artisans, and harvest rituals, connecting products to the landscapes and histories they emerge from.

A serene mountain-side drying terrace in Kashmir, shown without people, featuring wide woven reed mats covered with neatly spread walnuts, apricots, and apples in various stages of natural drying. Low stone walls surround the terrace, and beyond them, a soft-focus view of terraced fields and distant, hazy mountains anchors the local sourcing narrative. Late-afternoon golden-hour sunlight grazes the fruits, enhancing their colors and casting delicate, patterned shadows from the reed mats. Photographic realism, medium-wide shot from a slightly elevated angle with the foreground in sharp focus and the landscape gently blurred. The overall mood is tranquil, pure, and grounded in place, underscoring careful, traditional production methods and connection to Kashmiri terroir.

In our forthcoming shop, we meticulously select saffron, honey, and dryfruits, prioritizing provenance, freshness, and long-term relationships with Kashmiri producers.
